Fading light

There it was

Light fading from her eyes

The last innocence of a youth misspent on growing up too soon

The blossoming of a flower a child into woman

The subtle changes in grace and poise

From clumsy to beauty in the blink of an eye

She was grown and fierce no longer my angel but now my warrior

Ready to take on a world filled with sadness and the desperation of man

As that last light lingered those moments I cherish

Fleeting seconds of carefree joy in the beauty of life and the humour of death

May that last glimmer linger a little longer and your light never extinguish in humanities rage

Wild roses
