I know a lot will be upset by being unable to see family over Christmas. If you are reading this you must either have a smart phone, tablet laptop or PC; and if anything like me, you will have extra devices.
Why not loan the one you use the least to a family member, use a dongle for internet if they have no WiFi, or maybe offer your WiFi to a neighbour.
Get on messenger, zoom, echo to echo, video call, send a video message. Play games online.
I popped to check on my father in law to find he’d bought himself a smart tv, so I connected to the internet for him, logged him onto my prime, Netflix and got him set up. He’s got messenger now as well! So Christmas Day, we will video call, watch the same movies and chat.
There are ways for even the least technological people to still speak or see you.
Pop round, sing some surprise carols on the doorstep and drop off gifts.
Let’s not allow ourselves to be defeated, support our elders, spread some joy anyway you can.
Together if we try, this Christmas could still be amazing if different.
Please stay safe, stay strong, stay positive!
Merry Christmas!
My wife surprises me every Christmas when she gets me things I wasn’t expecting but always wanted. She’ll say: “I was listening to you all year.” I had no idea that I even mentioned I liked these things to her. Sometimes I’ll point at something in a store and she notices.
