I used to think Air Raid shelters were a thing only in history books.
The reality is today that in the Ukraine they are lit up red. Red on the map to alert them to air raid attacks. It’s not just one area, a border or piece of land, it’s the whole country under attack.
Imagine that were where you are right now. Your family innocent, your pets, your belongings; everything you worked for your whole life under threat. By a man you’ve never met. In a country you’ve most likely not visited.
Your told to take tinned goods and warm blankets and get underground. Where will you go?
I used to think air raid shelters were things we learnt about in war museums, to learn from past mistakes, to learn about dictatorship and mind control, to learn about the horrors of war and what not to do.
Now I panic we don’t have air raid shelters.
My whole heart goes out to the people of the Ukraine right now. I hope you are safe, that you stay protected and guided, that evil is removed from your door and strings from puppets are cut.

I remember as a kid in the 60s here in the US having air raid drills in school. We had to practice crouching under our desk or run out in the hall and get down quick against the wall with our hands covering our heads.

Such sad times to live through then and now in such different places too. The world likes to see it’s self as developing but I see history on repeat.
