He sat by the window
Desperate to get outside
He couldn’t work the handles on the doors inside
Relying on others when he couldn’t speak
His only way of communication was barking or a squeak
The world kept walking by
But the glass panel was in the way
He only wanted to greet people
And get petted on the way
Wet his feet in puddles and jump through the streams
Get muddy in the woods and play in the leaves
But he sat by the window
Dreaming about fun times
Willing his family people to just let him outside.
